Thrilled to be a part of the Maple Lawn community, Dr. Tina Mahmoudi, is a Board Certified Orthodontist with a passion for creating beautiful and healthy smiles. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) majoring in Biological Sciences and then obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD), the first dental college in the world. While attending UMSOD, she was awarded the Harry E. Kelsey Award for Professional Demeanor.

Following graduation from dental school, she continued her quest to become an orthodontist and was chosen as one of the four residents into the highly competitive orthodontic residency program. She spent an additional three years at University of Maryland School of Dentistry to specialize in Orthodontics and obtained her Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in addition to a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Mahmoudi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Being board certified signifies the highest level of accreditation within a given specialty; it is one step further in a long and intensive orthodontic educational experience to making a lifelong pledge to elevating the quality of patient care. It is a voluntary process and only half of orthodontists choose to pursue it and become board certified.

Dr. Mahmoudi has been in the dental field for over a decade and is also an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) , American Dental Association (ADA), Howard County Dental Association (HCDA) Maryland State Society of Orthodontists (MSSO), and Mid-Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO). Dr. Mahmoudi is Invisalign® certified and stays up-to-date on latest techniques including Lingual braces, Clear Braces, Accelerated Tooth Movement, WildSmiles Braces, Soft Tissue Laser Surgery, and Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs).

Dr. Mahmoudi is highly trained in the growth and development of the jaws in children. She has extensive experience treating kids, teens, and adults and strives to provide the best results possible for her patients. She is skilled in treating patients with interdisciplinary orthodontic needs. She will work with patient’s general dentist and other dental specialties to improve tooth positioning for replacement of missing teeth and restore proper jaw function in corrective jaw surgery cases.

Dr. Mahmoudi is fluent in English and Persian. She lives in Howard County with her husband, daughter, and a cute as a button Mini Goldendoodle, named Maya. When not in the office, she enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
